Lois Varnes Mendenhall

Lois Varnes Mendenhall, 78, of North Port, Florida, previously of Cochranville, passed away on Thursday, December 26, 2013.  She was the wife of Paul E. Mendenhall with whom she shared 60 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville Hospital, Lois was the daughter of the late Arthur C. Varnes and Kathryn Miller Varnes.  She was a graduate of Scott High School in 1953.

She was employed by Bell Telephone and AT&T for 38 years.

She was a member of Gumtree Methodist Church.  She was also a  life member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Paul E. Mendenhall, Jr and his wife, Jo-Ann of Sadsburyville, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She is also survived by nine siblings, William Varnes, James Varnes, Edward Varnes, Harry Varnes David Varnes , Dennis Varnes, Ruth Faye Proudfoot, Kathy Ann Reynolds and Margaret Nelson Dewitt.  Her brother, Fred Varnes passed away on the same day as Lois.  She was predeceased by one granddaughter.

The funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 2:30 at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at Upper Octorara Cemetery.  The viewing will be held from 1:30 to 2:30 PM.
