Leon C. Wiggins, 85, of Parkesburg, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2008 at the Phoenixville Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Suzanne Williams Wiggins, with whom he shared 58 years of marriage.
Born in Cochranville, he was the son of the late Norman N. Wiggins and Bertha Irene Hart Wiggins. An area resident his entire life, he was a 1941 graduate of the former West Fallowfield High School. Leon served honorably in WWII in the US Army Air Corp, 8th Air Force, flying 35 missions. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal with three Oak Leaf Clusters and six Bronze Battle Stars. He was a member of the Parkesburg Baptist Church and was also a member of the Skerrett Lodge #343 F.&A.M. of Cochranville, the Atglen Sportsman Club, the Parkesburg Fire Co., V.F.W. and the former American Legion.
Leon was self-employed as a plumber.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by his son, Ronald C. Wiggins, one grandson Justin and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2008 at 11 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Glen Run Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held from 9 AM until 10:45 AM. Masonic services will be held at 10:45 AM.
