Leo "Buddy" Swisher

Leo Swisher, Jr., 84, of Coatesville, PA passed away peacefully on July 11, 2021 at 3:00 AM at his daughter's home, surrounded by family and friends.  Leo "Buddy" Swisher grew up in Coatesville where he spent all of his life.  He was the son of the late Leo Swisher, Sr. and Hazel Nuse Swisher of Coatesville.

Buddy was known for his great produce stand located at 340 & 82 where five generations of the Swisher family offered the best sweet corn, tomatoes, and cantaloupes in this area.  He loved all people, talking and befriending every customer for life.  He was a very hard worker, taking pride in everything he did.  Buddy chopped and sold wood, which kept thousands of families warm in the Coatesville area.

Buddy enjoyed hunting and fishing trips to the mountains and spending time at the beach. Everyone knew by the convoy of cars and campers that the Swisher "Clan" was coming.  Much time was spent on the bay fishing and clamming and in the mountains were campfires and spotlighting.

Anyone who spotted horse riders, the pack of fox hounds or heard the song of the hounds on a foxes' scent knew that Buddy wasn't far behind.  Fox hunting was his life's passion. He put others before himself always.  He made a lasting impression and was always a good friend.

Buddy was a member of the National Wild Turkey Federation, the Rocky Mountain Elk Federation, Friends of Penn Mary Del and the Swisher Hunt for 40 years.

He is survived by two daughters, Rose Mary Swisher and partner John "Henry" Edwards and Nancy Nichols wife of Wade Nichols both of Honey Brook, three grandchildren, Scott Slauch husband of Jessice Pitner of Coatesville, Kyle Edwards husband of Amber Rudnick of Honey Brook, and was preceded in death by Harry "John" Slauch, and 8 great grandchildren, Harry, Matthew, Nicholas, Savannah, Anabel and Vanessa Slauch, and Tukker and Miley Edwards. He is also survived by his siblings, Peggy Roland of Manheim, Elizabeth Risbon of Saxton and Louise Martz of Honey Brook and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his siblings, Dorothy Miller, Elsie Beam, and Barbara Hunter.

Buddy will be missed for his kind heart and his way of making everyone feel special.  He loved his hats, the Phillies, bologna and tomato sandwiches, Pepsi and a cold beer every once in a while.  He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Thursday July 29, 2021 at 7:30 PM at Hibernia Methodist Church, with visitation from 6:00 PM to the time of the service.  A dessert buffet will be offered from 8:00 - 9:00 PM with the sharing of remembrance cards.
