Laurence W. Miller, Sr.

Laurence W. Miller, Sr., 86, of Coatesville, passed away on Tuesday, July 29, 2009 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was the widower of the late Elizabeth "Bibs" Cunningham Miller, who passed away in 1991.

Born in Sadsburyville on June 25, 1923, he was the son of the late Emily Beam Miller and Cletus F. Miller. An area resident his entire life, he retired in 1981 from the International Mills of Coatesville where he was employed as a Turn Foreman. He served honorably in the US Army Air Force during W.W.II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Laurence was a member of the Wagontown Union Chapel.

He enjoyed fox hunting.

He is survived by four children, Laurence W. Miller, Jr., of Coatesville, Charles W. Miller, and wife Lois, of Monroe, N.Y., Mildred A. Peppernick, of Coatesville, Barbara M. Domsohn of Coatesville; four grandchildren, three great grandchildren; siblings, Dorothy Wallace of Coatesville, and Lenora Michnuk of Thorndale; and companion, Sarah Ann Hasiey of Coatesville. He was predeceased by his grandson, Kyle Joshua Miller and his brother, William B. Miller.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2009 at 4 p.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, with Chaplain Philip Cherry officiating. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Funeral Home from 2 to 4 PM. Interment will be private.
