Larry Amos Webberking, 86, of West Grove, PA, passed away on Wednesday, June 14, 2023. He was the husband of the late Patricia Ann Barksdale Webberking who passed away in 2020. Born in Darby, PA, he was the son of the late Dudley E. and Olive L. Leidy Webberking.
Larry graduated from Springfield High School in 1955, the Spring Garden Institute, the Philadelphia Automotive Training Center, and the Brown College Preparatory School in Philadelphia. He also served in the US Army Reserves for 12 years
He was a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter #240 of New Garden, PA, and the Quiet Birdmen of Wilmington, DE. He was also a Freemason with the George Bartram-Paul Sand Lodge #298 in Springfield, PA. He also attended the Goshen Baptist Church in West Chester, PA.
After marriage to Patricia in 1965, he owned and operated The Brake Shop in Upper Darby, PA from 1972 until his retirement in 2003. He drafted the plans in the basement of their Upper Darby home and built the family homestead in Glen Mills that they moved into in 1976. Later in life he discovered the passion of flying and flew his Lark airplane with his wife and "co-pilot" out of Wilmington DE. They traveled to Osh-Kosh and Lock Haven and loved doing their Fly-ins. He truly loved his airplane family. He had the impeccable ability to enter airplanes into every conversation, which we all referred to in our family as ..."wait for it.... airplane, airplane, airplane". His passion led him to build a Sonex airplane in his basement before moving to Jenners Pond.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura (Kim) Masterstefone of Gap, PA, and Sandra Webberking (Dana Collins) of Springfield, PA, grandson, Colin (Ellie) Bromley of San Marcos, TX, a great-grandson, Bennett, and a sister, Doris King of Virginia.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Willowtree Hospice. The family would like to thank the staff at Chester County Hospital, Willow Tree Hospice and Jenners Pond/Preston for their wonderful care.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg, PA. Online condolence can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com
