Larry S. Wertz, Sr.

Larry S. Wertz, Sr., 63, of East Waterford, PA, formerly of Springdale, PA, passed away on Thursday, May 14, 2009 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Gladys Kreider Wertz, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.

Born in Doe Run, Chester County, he was the son of Mildred A. Wertz Johnson of Kennett Square and the late Henry S. Dallas. He attended Octorara High School and was employed by Worthington Steel of Malvern as a Maintenance Supervisor for 34 years, retiring two years ago.

He is survived, in addition to his wife and mother, by his daughter Brenda Atwood, wife of Thomas, of Intercourse; brother, Pat Boyd of Hagerstown, MD; daughter-in-law, Patty Wertz; six grandchildren, Barry Atwood, Dawn Polanco, Erica Atwood, Angela, Steven and Rose Wertz, and great grandchildren, Desiree and Jassamine Polanco. He was preceded in death by his son Larry S. Wertz Jr.

The Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment in the Glen Run Cemetery of Atglen. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing, which will be held at the Funeral Home from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m.
