Karen Marie Flamminio, 64, formerly of Coatesville, passed away on Thursday, November 29, 2018. She was the daughter of the late Ralph P. and Adele Grabowski Flamminio.
She was born in Coatesville on April 3, 1954, and was an active participant in the Coatesville Area High School, class of 1972. She was a member of the swim team, student council, and was class treasurer.
Karen then graduated from Brandywine Junior College with an associate's degree and afterwards pursued her love of adventure by traveling and living in Europe until 1984.
She returned to the United States and followed in her father's footsteps in Journalism, graduating cum lade from Temple University in 1988.
A free lance journalist, Karen had many published articles in the South Philly Review while working as a paralegal for a law firm in Philadelphia. In 1992 she moved to Brigantine, NJ, to help her brother raise his daughter. She continued as a paralegal in Atlantic City until Post-Polio Syndrome left her unable to work.
Karen was a free spirit, with an insatiable appetite for life. She was not restrained by convention or obligation but her great love for family, friends and animals had no bounds.
Karen is survived by her brother, James Flamminio, of Brigantine, her niece, Tera Brady of Thorndale, great nephew, Owen Brady, aunt and uncle Mary & Stanley Pointek, many cousins and her beloved dog, Spartacus.
