K. Laverne Reiter

K. Laverne Reiter, 80, of Lancaster, died on Saturday, January 31, 2015 surrounded by her family at the Lancaster General Hospital. She was the loving wife of her sailor boy, Charles A. Reiter with whom she shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late David and Edna Bouder.
Laverne was a member of the Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church since 1954. She graduated top of her class with honors from the Grace Bible Institute.

She was a two year member of the USO helping wounded servicemen. She later worked for Leola Sewing Factory, RCA in Lancaster, Miller's Restaurant and the Margaret Miller Dress Shop. She volunteered as a treasurer of Aglow for two years. She loved gardening, flying the American Flag daily and enjoying the flowers that her husband planted for her. She also enjoyed writing notes, sending cards, and writing short stories and poems. Those who knew her will greatly miss her frequent heartfelt cards and notes.

She is survived, in addition to her husband, by four children; Sharon Reiter John and her companion Paul Taren of Kingston, PA, Charles Reiter, Jr. and wife Deborah of Gettysburg, PA, Douglas Reiter and wife Mary of Harrisburg, PA, and John Reiter and wife Laura of Mineral, VA, ten grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and two siblings; Earl Bouder of Lititz, PA and Marlene Ream of Manheim, PA.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at 11am from the Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1121 Octorara Trail, Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, PA.  Viewing  from 9:30 -11am.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Shriners Hospital, 3551 North Broad St. Philadelphia, PA 19140.
