Joyce E. Middleton

Joyce E. Middleton, 82, of Gap, PA, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, in West Chester, PA.  She is now reunited with her late husband, Marvin L. "Mutt" Middleton who passed away in 2016.  Born in Strasburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Lester Kuhns and Ruth Miller Summers.

Joyce was an area resident most her life .  She attended the Pequea Valley Schools and worked for over 32 years at Comfort Care Textiles in Parkesburg as a floor supervisor along side her dear friends, Cynthia Cluff.

Joyce liked to cook and enjoyed making meals for her family and friends.  All loved her homemade fudge.  She liked to eat out at her favorite restaurant, Olive Garden.  Joyce liked watching football, 76ers basketball, and horse racing on TV. On Saturdays she frequently went to Delaware Park or to Hollywood Casino in Morgantown and enjoyed spending the entire day there.

She is survived by a stepdaughter, Ruth "Candy" Middleton of Coatesville, a special nephew, Marvin Lee Middleton of Gap, godsons, Daniel S. Newman of Quakertown, PA, and Justin S. Newman of Birdsboro, PA, siblings, Vaughn Summers (Dawn Horner) of Leola, PA, Lester Frank Kuhns (Paulette) of Lancaster, PA, Kenneth Kuhns (Katherine) of Lancaster, Delphine Sweigart (Michael) of White Horse, PA, Myrna McGinnis (David) of Lancaster, Charles Crasten Jr.(Virginia Martin) of Gap, and Kevin Crasten of Leola, brother-in-law, David Middleton of Coatesville, sister-in-laws, Florence L. Drawhorn of Coatesville, and Charlotte A. (Rev. Dr. Carl P.) Griffin of New Holland, PA, and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by siblings, Edward Summers and Ruth Ann Crasten.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home, Parkesburg, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.  Interment to follow at Church of Christ Cemetery in Ercildoun.
