Josephine Alice Flamer, 95, of Sadsbury, Pa., passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on August 13th, 2020 while under the care of her family and her youngest son Darryl, with whom she resided. She was the widow of Elmer J. Flamer Sr. who died in 2015. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Middleton and Ruth Black Middleton.
She was an area resident all her life and attended the Coatesville Area Schools. Josephine or "Jody" as she was affectionately known, was employed in the Dietary Services Department of Embreeville State Hospital for over 40 years before retiring to care for her ailing mother.
In her early teen years, Josephine developed a passion and love for cars and all things transportation-related. She was an early member of the Steel City Flames Motorcycle Club and enjoyed riding with her two sisters Shirley and Florence along with other friends and relatives. She enjoyed traveling while following the activities of her grandchildren, spending time in the casinos, sharing time with her family, watching vintage television shows, collecting ceramic pigs, and was an avid reader, especially of country western books and listening to country-western music.
Ms. Josephine was a truly wonderful individual, who was extremely generous. She had a giving spirit, which was shared with family, coworkers, neighborhood children, and any others that she would come into contact with while at work or as she carried out her daily routine.
She is survived by two sisters Florence of Coatesville, Charlotte of New Holland and her brother David of Coatesville, her seven children, Elmer Jr., of Palm Bay Florida, David (Judith) of Kennett Square, Barbara Sims (Joe) of Coatesville, Russell (Linda) of Coatesville, Barry of Coatesville, Darryl of Coatesville, and Dondi Middleton of North Carolina and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2020, at 11 AM at Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365 followed by interment in the Church of Christ Cemetery of Ercildoun. The viewing will be held at the funeral home from 10 AM until the time of the service.
