Joseph C. Callahan, 70, of East Fallowfield, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at his home. He was the husband of Shelley L. (Evans) Callahan, with whom he shared 40 years of marriage.
Born in Philadelphia, Joseph was the son of the late Joseph F. and Edith A. (Freed) Callahan.
He attended Edison High School and graduated from North Catholic High School of Philadelphia. He served honorably in the US Air Force during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1971, obtaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol as a young man, which led to his love of aviation and his career with Lufthansa from 1969 to 1999 as a Cargo Load Master and US Airways from 2001 to 2009 as a Customer Service Agent.
He was a member of National Model Railroading Assoc., and International Plastic Modelers Society.
He belonged to First Presbyterian of Jacksonville, NC.
Joseph is survived, in addition to his wife, by his four children: Richard Callahan, husband of Jenn, of West Chester, Patrick Callahan of Toms River, N.J., Joseph Callahan of Fremont, CA and Shannon Callahan of East Fallowfield; five grandchildren; and one sister, Mary Ann Dubeck, wife of John, of Philadelphia.
The memorial service will be private.
