John William "Bill" Stroup, Jr.

John William Stroup, Jr. (Bill), 85, of Honey Brook, passed away peacefully into the hands of his Lord on Monday, April 29, 2013 at Harrison House in Christiana, PA.

He was the beloved  husband of Nancy K. Stroup with whom he shared 45 years of marriage. Born July 7, 1927 to John William Stroup and Jane Cromleigh Stroup of Parkesburg, Bill was a lifelong resident of Chester County except for 20 years when he lived in Maryland after retiring.
Bill was a 1945 graduate of the former Parkesburg High School.  He attended the Drexel University.
Bill proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He retired from Philadelphia Electric Company after 40 years of dedicated service.
Bill was a member of Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, Brandywine-Goddard Masonic Lodge  No. 383 in Coatesville, Boumi Temple in Maryland, Legion of Honor Nur Temple, Legion of Honor Boumi Temple, Chester River Shrine Club, USS Mt. McKinley Association, VFW and American Legion
He is survived by two children, Barbara Ann wife of Glenn Kendro of Honey Brook and John William Stroup, III and wife Jacquelyn Boatwright of Oxford, two grandchildren Ryan N. Kendro and Devon N. Stroup and two siblings; twin sister Betty S. Mellinger of Parkesburg and Frederick L. Stroup of Elizabethtown.
Funeral services will be held Saturday May 4th, 2013 at 11:00 AM  at Honey Brook Presbyterian Church, 4331 Horseshoe Pike, Honey Brook, PA followed by interment in the adjoining cemetery with Masonic Services at the grave.  Calling hour will be at the church from 10 -11:00 AM prior to the service.
Donations may be made in Bill’s memory to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children, 3551 North Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA 19140.
