John Smith, Jr.

John Smith, Jr., 83, of Ephrata, Pa. passed away at his home on Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Born and raised in Coatesville, Pa. he was the son of the late John Smith, Sr. and Margaret (Corporal) Smith. He was the beloved husband of the late Helen Catherine Smith.

Born and raised in Coatesville, Pa, and later in life migrated to Lancaster, Pa and his final resting place was in Ephrata, Pa. He attended a Coatesville Area Senior High School. After high school he was gainful employed at the Coatesville Hospital, in Coatesville, Pa. in the position of Environment Services Supervisor. He then acquires a position at the Brandywine Hospital Trauma Center, Coatesville, Pa. for 30 years as a Supervisor of Environmental Services. Later in life he started his own business which was called Smith Janitorial Services.

John enjoyed fishing, cruises, a good cigar, and spending time with family and his friend Eugene Fredrick. He always cherished time spent with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by two children; Deborah Smith of Galloway, New Jersey and Sarah Smith of New Holland, three siblings: Reverend Joyce McDonald of Broadway, N.C., Jerome Smith and wife Andrea of Devon, Pa, Beatrice Douglas of Philadelphia, Pa. and four grandchildren: Laelius Smith, Josyln Adams, Jasmine Smith, and Lilly Ford, and host of special nieces and nephews.

John is preceded in death by two siblings: Alfred Smith and Margaret Smith of Coatesville, Pa.

A memorial visitation will take place at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365 on Friday December 30, 2022, from 2PM- 3 PM.
