John P. Ruczhak

John P. Ruczhak, 75, of Coatesville, PA, passed away on Monday, November 27, 2023, in Philadelphia, PA.  He was the husband of Anne Radcliff Ruczhak for over 53 years.  Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Kurenda Ruczhak.

John was an area resident all his life and was a 1966 graduate of Coatesville High School. He was a member of Holy Ghost Orthodox Church in Coatesville and also attended Penningtonville Presbyterian Church in Atglen, PA. He was financial secretary for the church and for Union USWA Local 1164. He worked at the former Lukens Steel Company at more recently for LNP Company

A lifelong golfer, he played often, had been the captain of the Lukens golf team and continued playing as long as he could, most joyfully with his entire family who all took up the game.

His happy place was always on the front porch of their home.  From that spot John and Anne became the hub of the neighborhood.  No one passed by without stopping for a greeting, and update, or a tidbit of local gossip.
From that porch, and in the home, there was a constant soundtrack.  Elvis Presley.  John’s favorite through his whole life, was played everyday.  Rock n roll 6 days a week but, always gospel on Sunday.  He listened around the clock, sometimes at volumes that brought great frustration to Anne.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children; Michele Ruczhak of Coatesville, David (Jenny Kazarian) Ruczhak of Exton, PA, and Brandon (Ashley) Bennett of Mifflintown, PA, and three grandsons; Drew, Matthew, and Derek Bennett.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Ruczhak Jr. and sister-in-law, Barbara Ruczhak.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2023, at 12 noon, from the Penningtonville Presbyterian Church, 406 Main St., Atglen, PA 19310, with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m.  Interment to follow in the adjacent church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the church at the above address or to Holy Ghost Orthodox Church, 392 Charles St. Coatesville, PA, 19320.
