John H. Garnett

John H. Garnett, Sr., 92, of Parkesburg, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Lottie E. Bair Garnett with whom he shared 67 years of marriage. Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late George S. and Clemintine Seachrist Garnett.

John was an area resident all his life. As a youth during the Great Depression he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corp for four years. Later, he was employed by the former Lukens Steel Co. retiring in 1980 with 44 years of service as an electrician. He was a life member of the Atglen Sportsmen Club, Boone and Crockett member and he served as President of the 5G Hunting Camp.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; Deborah "Deb" Conover Garnett of Kinzers, PA and John H. "Skip" Garnett, Jr. and wife Gail of Parkesburg, two granddaughters; Rhonda McEldorney of Gap and Faith Urban of Ardsley, PA, two great grandchildren; Layla and Cody McEldorney both of New Holland, PA and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by seven siblings; George S. Garnett, Jr., Marvin H. Garnett, Dorothy Cazzone Parker, Wybert Garnett, Lloyd R. Garnett, Nancy J. Garnett and Alfred Garnett.
