John Christopher Miller

June 25, 1966 — August 15, 2021

John Christopher "Chris" Miller, 55, of Atglen, PA, passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2021, in Lancaster, PA, surrounded by loved ones.   He was the husband of Beth (Moore) Miller for almost 17 years.  He is also survived by his Parents; Jack F and Linda M. (Brownback) Miller; and one brother Dan (Kim) Miller.

Born on June 25, 1966, at Coatesville Hospital, Chris was an area resident all his life.  He graduated from Coatesville Area High School in 1984 and spent almost 33 years working at “the mill” (Cleveland Cliffs; formerly Lukens Steel) in Coatesville.  While he resided in Atglen, Chris was also very much at home in the woods of Clearfield County at the Valley View Gun Club and the beaches and waters of Elk River and the Chesapeake Bay at Buttonwood Beach RV Resort.

He was an active member of the United Steelworkers Union, the Valley View Gun Club, the Eastern Lancaster County Rod & Gun Club, and the Christiana American Legion.

Additionally, he is survived by 5 children: Laura Miller, Randolph Thompson, and wife Ginger, Robert Woodall, Samantha (Fahey) Showalter and Monica Donnelly; five grandchildren: Benjamin, Abigail, Willow, Jaxton, and Robert, with a sixth grandchild on the way, and the beloved family dog, Buffy.

Chris was a man’s man with many interests and hobbies.  If you did not find him in the woods hunting White Tail Deer or Wild Turkey, then you would probably catch him on the water fishing for trout or stripers or crabbing for the Maryland Blue Crabs he loved so much.  He was a natural cook and spent hours learning new techniques and recipes for smoking meat, pickling vegetables (most of which he grew himself), making sauerkraut or any one of the delicious meals he served his family and friends.

Most of all, Chris was a family man.  He delighted in teaching his children and grandchildren how to hunt, fish and trap.  Chris loved cooking for his wife and family, especially at large family dinners.   Many evenings and weekends you would find him coaching softball or attending one of his children’s or grandchildren’s events and if you were lucky you just might have even found him leading a Conga line yelling “Daughter-in-law!"
