John B. Carr

June 27, 1931 — January 20, 2022

John B. Carr, 90, of Cochranville, passed away on Thursday, January 20th, 2022 under the care of Jenner's Pond of West Grove. He was the husband of Shirley Scott Carr, with whom he's shared 36 years of marriage, and the widower of the late M. Yvonne Morton Carr, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.

Born in Icedale, Pa., John was the son of the late Cora (Byerly) and John W. Carr. John was a 1949 graduate of Honey Brook High School. He worked at Sun Oil in Icedale and Marcus Hook for 42 years, retiring as a Measurement Technician.

John is survived, in addition to his wife, by his three children: Lorene Kuresko, wife of John, of Coatesville, Denise Jones, wife of Craig, of Reading, and Timothy Carr, husband of Crystal, of East Earl; and stepchildren, Kelly Boyer, wife of Jeffrey, of Glenmoore, and stepson, Bryan Scott of Strasburg; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Jean Carr Weinhold, Emma Carr Ammon, and Floyd Carr.

Jack, as he was called by friends and family, was known for his ready smile, kindness, patience, and generous spirit. A humble and peaceable man, to know Jack was to love him.

He was a member of the New Holland (formerly Honey Brook) Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and provided much encouragement and support to the congregation in various roles throughout his life. His ministry work always took precedence in his life. The first Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in the area was located in his family’s home/store in Birdell, Pa.

During his younger days you could find Jack riding horses and motorcycles. He also enjoyed such activities as roller and ice skating, ping pong, boating, hiking and water skiing. Jack had a very mechanical and technical mind. He was always interested in vehicles and spent many hours tinkering with machinery. Until his death he also loved doing yardwork and could be seen riding his tractor and caring for his property.

A memorial service will be held via a Zoom meeting of the New Holland Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses on February 12, 2022 at 2:00 PM. Access information can be obtained by contacting the family. Burial will be private at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Narvon, PA.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg.
