Joan Louise Melicher, 83, of Ephrata, passed away at her daughter's home in Parkesburg on Tuesday, February 1, 2022. She was the wife of the late Joseph Paul Melicher who passed in 1985.
Born in Coatesville she was the daughter of the late W. Russell and Bessie Berkiehiser McWilliams.
After graduating from Coatesville School of Nursing, she began her career as a nurse. She then worked as a dental hygienist and afterward at Pepperidge Farm, Denver, for many years before retiring.
She is survived by her daughters, Jean L. (John) Terrence of Birdsboro, and Karen L. (Scott) Smith of Parkesburg. She is predeceased by her grandson, Robert Joseph Kellon. Remaining grandchildren include Ashlyn Verdegem, Michael Terrence, and Scott Smith Jr.; Two great-grandchildren, Jaxon Robert and Jameson Ryan Cooper.
Also survived by her brother, Warren R. "Mick" (Judy) McWilliams.
An avid reader, she liked hiking, craft fairs, walking on the beach, and giving to others. Above all, she enjoyed the time spent with her family.
Our mother was a kind, charitable, loving person that took wonderful care of her family. Widowed early in life, she helped and supported us throughout our lives with the strength of two parents.
As her wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered at Ricketts Glen, a place of wonderful memories for all of us. At long last she is reunited with our father, the one now, always and forever love of her life.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wilde Funeral Home of Parkesburg. Online condolences can be posted at www.wildefuneralhome.com
