Joan L. Martin

Joan L. Martin , 74, of Birdsboro and formerly of Parkesburg, died on February 6, 2013, at the Tel Hai Retirement Community in Honey Brook. She was the wife of the late Harold L. Martin, who died in 1988. Born in Parkesburg, she was the daughter  of the late Andrew J. Abrams and Loretta Townsley Abrams of Compass Road, Parkesburg.

Mrs. Martin was a graduate of S. Horace Scott High School in Coatesville, class of 1956, and a retired auditor of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.  She was a member of the Morgantown Community Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn McDonald of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and Wendy, wife of Larry Corle, of Birdsboro with whom she resided; three granddaughters, Rena Nour, partner of Leo Cusic, of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia, Samantha, wife of Patrick Columbia, and Katie Simmers, both of Birdsboro; two grandsons, Christopher Simmers of Birdsboro and Robert W. Easton of Ormond Beach, Florida; two step-grandchildren, Austin Corle And Nathan Corle, partner of Paige Croy; four great-grandchildren: Emmy, Evan and  Rosie Cusic of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia and Brielle of Narvon PA one sister, Doris, wife of William Varnes, of Audubon, New Jersey; a brother, Nick Abrams, and spouse Roger Feffer, of New York City; a niece, Jennifer, wife of Jeffrey Druce, of Atco, New Jersey; a grandnephew, Ethan Druce of Atco, New Jersey; and devoted friend Charles Fernald of Parkesburg.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 11, 2013 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at the Friendship Methodist Cemetery in Gum Tree. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing Sunday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8pm and also Monday from 10 to 11am. In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718 Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718.
