Jean J. Cummings

Jean J. Cummings, 89, of Lancaster, was called home on Thursday, September 1, 2016 at the Glen at the Willow Valley Retirement Community. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Charles H. Cummings who died in 2013. They shared 56 years of marriage together. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late William and Jennie Watson Jeffries.

Jean and her husband formerly lived and served churches in Mt. Bethel, PA, Wildwood, NJ, and  Cochranville, PA. She retired from the Arthur Hall Insurance Group in West Chester, PA.

Most recently, she attended the Harvest Presbyterian Church of Willow Street, PA.

She is survived by four children; Kimberly (David) Esbenshade of Peach Bottom, Jeff Cummings of Pittsburgh, Joanne Emery of Medway, ME, John (Julie) Cummings of Atglen and ten grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister Margaret Jeffries.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, September 9, 2016 at 3:00 pm in the  Orr Auditorium at Willow Valley Manor, 600 Willow Valley Square, Lancaster, PA with the Rev. William Massey officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jean's memory to Caring Hospice Services, 400 Commerce Dr., Suite C, Ft. Washington, PA 19034.
