Jean Evelyn Stilwell

Jean Evelyn Mercer Stilwell, 87, of Honey Brook, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2022 at the Tel Hai Retirement Community. She was the beloved wife of the late Gordon L Stilwell, with whom she shared 66 years of marriage. Born in Downingtown, she was the daughter of William Defoster Mercer and Mary Louise Pyle Mercer.

Jean was a resident, along with her late husband, of Downingtown for 62 years. The hobbies she enjoyed were creating many crafts over the years as well as enjoying flower and vegetable gardening. She was a great cook and enjoyed cooking and baking.

She was a homemaker, and throughout her working career, she was employed as a seamstress. Then after having children, she worked as a cook in the public school system kitchen so she could be home with her children. Later, she accepted a position as a cook at a Marriott kitchen in Frazer, PA.

She along with her husband and family attended Bacton Hill Bible Church in Malvern for many years. In later years, she and her husband attended the East Brandywine Baptist Church until moving to Tel Hai.

She is survived, by four daughters; Linda Jones Schade of Ocean View, Hawaii, Nancy Doane (Bruce) of Coatesville, Susan Thompson (Randy) of Downingtown and Donna Russell (Scott) of Atglen, 10 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her two sisters Mildred Harple and Ethel Brookover and brother William Mercer.

Funeral services will be held at the Tel Hai Chapel, 1200 Tel Hai Circle, Honey Brook, PA 19344 on Monday, May 16, 2022. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing and visitation at the Chapel at 10:00 am. The funeral service is at 11:00 am, followed by interment at the Philadelphia Memorial Park in Frazer, PA.
