James R. Haldeman, 74, of Pomeroy, passed away on Monday, December 5, 2011 at the Harrison Senior Living Center of Christiana. He was the beloved husband of Peggy Steidler Haldeman, with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Samuel and Ada (Ford) Haldeman.
An area resident his entire life, he retired in 1996 from the former Lukens Steel in the press and form By Product Department He was a member of the Lukens Veterans Guild.
He enjoyed bowling for the Lukens and Millprint Companies,fishing, baseball with the American Legion, the NRA, and a committeeman with the Boy Scouts. He belonged to the Parkesburg Baptist Church.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by five children: Susan L. Leszkowicz, wife of Stanley, of Christiana, Sally J. Lard, wife of David, of Brandamore, Robert J. Haldeman, husband of Barbara, of Narvon, Shirley A. Moore, wife of Patrick, of Mt. Joy and Sandra D. Babb, wife of Mike of Wilmington, De.; 11 grandchildren and five great grandchildren; and his brother, Kenneth Haldeman of Sadsburyville.
He was predeceased by his siblings, Ralph, Arthur and Dorothy Batson.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 10, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. from the Wilde Funeral Home 434 Main St. Parkesburg, Pa., followed by interment the Hopewell Methodist Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
