James R. Durborow

James R. Durborow, 75, of East Fallowfield, PA, passed away at his home on Thursday, September 14, 2023. He was the beloved husband of Sue (Haines) Durborow with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, Jim was the son of the late John V. Durborow and Margarite "Peg" (McCorkle) Durborow.

Jim was a decorated US Army Vietnam War Veteran, serving from 1968 to 1970. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60- Device, the Combat Infantry Badge, the Air Medal, and the Purple Heart.

He was employed by the Philadelphia Electric Company for 33 years. After his retirement from PECO, Jim was the Owner and President of Veteran Construction and Utility Services, Inc for 20 years.

Jim was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He dedicated many years coaching baseball and softball in the Coatesville area, even serving as President of the Caln Baseball League for a time. Jim spent many years volunteering and mentoring with Boy Scout Troop 117 in Coatesville. Jim also served on the Planning Commission for East Fallowfield Township.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by five children: Jamie Hanaway of Coatesville, Jimmy Durborow of Coatesville, Joel Durborow of Coatesville, Bob Durborow and wife Curry of Coatesville and Sanne Eisenhauer and husband Steve of Collegeville. Eight grandchildren: David Hanaway and wife Sajel, Josh Hanaway, Zachary Hanaway, Mackenzie Taylor, Hudson and Lukas Durborow, and Chase and Emilie Eisenhauer; one great grandchild, Sidney Hanaway. Plus, two brothers, John Durborow and wife Rosie of Downingtown and Tim Durborow of Parkesburg. In addition, he is survived by many loving family members and friends who are family, especially Jana Laepple of Hamburg, Germany who was an exchange student turned family. He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Hiltebeitel.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Friday, September 29th at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320. Visitation will be held 9:00AM – 10:30AM with the service starting at 11:00AM. Inurnment service will be private at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA.
