James E. Dixon, Sr., 85, of Parkesburg, passed away on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Constance Wilson Dixon with whom he shared 64 years of marriage. Born near Avondale, PA at a place called Bakers Station, he was the son of the late James Dixon and Elizabeth Mitchell Dixon.
Jim was a longtime resident of Parkesburg. He was employed for 40 years at the Coatesville VA Medical Center as a Supervisor in Building Management.
He was a former member of the Bethany AME Church of Parkesburg. PA. He enjoyed fishing and golfing.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; Shirley Dixon of Cochranville and Gerald Dixon and wife Chrisia of Clermont, FL, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, daughter-in-law Patricia A. Dixon of Coatesville, eight siblings; Mary Woods of Lancaster, Bette Trowery of Philadelphia, Dorothy Merritt of VA, Haywood Dixon and wife Doris ELL of York, Beatrice States of Lancaster, Antoinette Stewart of Lancaster, Charles Dixon and wife Marcie of Lancaster and George Dixon and wife Marie of Parkesburg and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his son James E. Dixon, Jr. and three siblings; Melissa Hunter, Eugene Dixon and Richard Dixon.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2019 at 10:30 AM at the Hutchinson Memorial UAME Church, 825 E Chestnut St, Coatesville, PA followed by interment at the Upper Octorara Cemetery, Parkesburg, PA. Family and friends are also invited to attend visitation at the church from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
