J. Richard "Dick" Weaver, Sr.

J. Richard "Dick" Weaver, Sr., 79, of Coatesville, passed away suddenly on Sunday, October 25, 2009 at his home. He was the beloved husband of Joan Garrison Weaver, with whom he shared 56 years of marriage.

Born in Coatesville on October 9, 1930, he was the son of the late Benjamin J. and Edna Saylor Weaver. He was a 1948 graduate of the Scott High School and also graduated from the Taylor Business School. He owned and operated, along with his father and brothers, Weaver Motors in Coatesville. He was a member of the Coast Guard Reserve.

Dick was a member of the Parkesburg Presbyterian Church, the Brandywine Goddard Lodge #383 F & AM of Coatesville, the Rajah Temple where he served as past Potentate, Reading Consistory, Brandywine Shrine Club and the Jesters, the Coatesville Moose and the Coatesville Rotary where he served as past President.

His is survived, in addition to his wife, by three sons, J. Richard Weaver, Jr., husband of Eileen of Coatesville, Robert E. Weaver, husband of Suzanne, of Pottsville and Ronald E. Weaver of California, two grandchildren and one brother Donald Weaver of Coatesville. He was predeceased by his siblings, Ben Weaver, Jr., Doris Small, Peggy Thompson, and Joyce Evans.

The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 30, 2009 at 11 a.m. at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, followed by interment at the Bradford Cemetery in Marshalton. Family and friends are invited to attend the viewing at the Funeral Home, which will be held on both Thursday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. and again on Friday morning from 10 until 11 AM.
