Howard Albert "Plug" Thompson, 89, of Gap, previously of Parkesburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 1, 2011 while under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County at the Essa Flory Hospice Center. He was the widower of the late Dorothy Law Thompson, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.
Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Horace and Leah Smith Thompson.
He served honorably in the US Army during WWII in the European - African - Middle Eastern Campaign.
He retired from the former Lukens Steel in 1986 after 41 years of employment. He was a member of the Lukens Veterans Guild, V.F.W. #4480 of Parkesburg and a life member of the Brandywine Fire Co.
He is survived by his son, John A. Thompson of Millsboro, DE; six grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his daughter, Leanne Thompson Boerstler and his nine siblings.
The Funeral Service will be held on Monday evening, March 7, 2011 at 8 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg with the Rev. Robert Coats officiation. Interment will be private. Family and friends are invited to the viewing, which will be held at the funeral home from 6 until 8 PM.
