Horace W. Sagnor, Jr.

December 1, 1936 — October 26, 2022

Horace W. Sagnor, Jr., of Coatesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at the Pocopson Home, West Chester, PA. He was the beloved husband of Margaret L. Oliver Sagnor with whom he shared 61 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Horace W. Sagnor, Sr. and Ethel Marie McGinnis Sagnor and stepson to Elizabeth (Betty) Ferguson Sagnor who raised him.

Horace was a Coatesville area resident all his life and a 1955 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. He proudly served in the US Army from 1957 to 1959 and was stationed in Germany with the 83rd Artillery Regiment. He rarely left the house without a hat, pin, t-shirt or belt buckle that reflected his status as a veteran.

There were few things that Horace enjoyed more than talking to others about the military and aviation. He was an avid collector of model airplanes and military patches. These two things, along with his passion for photography, led to some of his photographs being published in magazines and books.

He also used his photography skills to create themed slide shows that were set to music and narrated by him. He had an Easter program, Christmas program and one called God & Country. Horace shared these all over Chester County for churches and various organizations.

He was employed by Millprint, later Alcoa, in Downingtown as an Assistant Pressman.

Horace was a faithful member of the Wagontown Union Chapel in Wagontown, PA and served the church in many capacities including a deacon.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two sons; Bruce Sagnor and wife Rebecca of Parkesburg and Gary Sagnor and wife Donna of Coatesville, four granddaughters; Heather Lieberman and husband Liam, Holly Sagnor, Megan Sagnor and Bethany Sagnor and one great grandson Henry Lieberman.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at the Wagontown Union Chapel, 469 W Kings Hwy, Coatesville, PA 19320. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in Horace's honor to the County Corrections Gospel Mission, 127 Brandamore Road, Honey Brook, PA 19344.
