an L. "Pete" Hilton, 86, of Christiana, PA, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Hickory House Nursing Home in Honey Brook. He was the husband of Burnita J. Shindle Hilton with whom he shared 63 years of marriage.
Born in Christiana, he was the son of the late Paul and Ester M. Hubbard Hilton. Pete was a lifelong resident of Christiana. He proudly served in the US Army during WWII in the European Theatre and was a veteran of the Battle of the Bulge. After the war, he was employed by the former Lukens Steel Co. of Coatesville retiring in 1989 with 51 years of service. He was a faithful member of the Latta Memorial Presbyterian Church of Christiana where he served for many years as sexton.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, trapping and watching and feeding the birds.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by four children: Paula, wife of Robert Smith of Gap, Carl Hilton and companion Linda of Christiana, Sherry Root and companion Richard Monk of Christiana and William Hilton of Ephrata, six grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and two siblings Shirley Wettling of Christiana and Robert Hilton of Millsboro, DE.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 2:00 pm from the Sadsbury Friends Burial Grounds, Gap, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Latta Memorial United Presbyterian Church, 23 Green Street, Christiana, PA
17509.
