Gloria Whitman Cowan

Gloria Whitman Cowan, 91, died in her home in Virginia Beach, VA on October 10, 2015.
She was the wife of the late James H. Cowan who died in 1996.

Mrs. Cowan was a graduate of Bucknell University in Lewisburg, PA where she majored in business and was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. During her years in Coatesville, Mrs. Cowan worked with her husband, founder of Brandywine Veterinary Hospital.  She was active in community affairs in Coatesville and later in Santa Fe, NM. before moving to Atlantic Shores Retirement Community, Virginia Beach.  She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Virginia Beach, VA.

She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Rebecca and Thomas Hoye of St. Paul, MN and Susan and Michael Uremovich of Virginia Beach, VA; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by one brother George Bergen Whitman.

The family would like to express profound appreciation to the staff members of Medi Hospice and Atlantic Shores’ Assistance In Living Program for their extremely kind care and support.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2015 at 1pm at the Upper Octorara Cemetery, Octorara Trail, Parkesburg, PA. Also, family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life immediately following the interment from 2:00pm to 4:00pm at the Beale Manor, 200 S. Church St. (Route 10) Parkesburg, PA 19365.
