Gertrude W. "Trudy" Kneib

Gertrude W. "Trudy" Kneib, 91, of Coatesville, passed away on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at St. Martha's Manor in Downingtown surrounded by her devoted family.

She was the loving wife of Richard J. Kneib who preceded her in death in June 2010.

Born in Coatesville on January 26, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Christian and Ellen Ransing Walters.

Trudy attended Coatesville Elementary Schools and graduated from Scott Senior High School, Class of 1943.

She worked as a secretary at Lukens Steel Company in Coatesville upon graduation.  She married Richard J. Kneib on January 25, 1947 and became a stay-at-home mom while helping her husband with his television repair business, R.J.K. TV Service for many years.  She was also employed at Modern Miss Dress Shop in Coatesville, Chester County Intermediate Unit in Caln, Ingleside Bakery and Fashion Bug, both in Thorndale.  She retired in 1995 at the age of 70.

Trudy was a member of St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Coatesville.

She was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and the Philadelphia Eagles.  She also enjoyed dancing and loved dogs.

She is survived by three children, Patricia, wife of David Willmott of Downingtown, Richard T. and wife, Donna of Coatesville, and Linda, wife of David Eshleman of Downingtown; three grandchildren, Michael Kneib, Kristin Parmer and Timothy Kneib; two great-grandchildren, Alexis and Jackson.  She also has two step-grandchildren, Shawn Eshleman and Ryan Eshleman and three step-great-grandchildren, Lucas, Paris and Lilli.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Elizabeth Ann; three brothers, George, Edward and Christian, Jr.; and five sisters, Agnes, Margaret, Pauline, Cecilia and Irene.

Trudy always had a smile and kind word for everyone.  She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother and will be extremely missed by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Friday, September 2, at St. Martha's Manor Chapel, 470 Manor Avenue, Downingtown, followed by interment in St. Cecilia's Cemetery, Coatesville.

Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing from 10 until the time of the service at the chapel.
