Georgia May Root

Georgia May Root, 73, of Gordonville, passed away on Monday, June 29, 2020 at the Lancaster General Hospital.  She was the widow of the late Robert Francis Root, Sr., who died in 1988.  She was the daughter of the late Howard Lee Stone, Sr., and Margaret Simms Stone.

Georgia was an area resident all her life.  She was employed as a CNA at the Harrison House Nursing Home in Christiana, PA

She is survived by nine children; Constance Root of Gordonville, Karen Singh and husband Waild of Egypt, Robert L. Root and wife Elizabeth of Gordonville, Christopher L. Root and companion Toni Sherrer of Gordonville, Joseph Matthew Stone and wife Jessica of New Holland, Robert Root, Jr of Honey Brook, Randy Root and wife Patty of Maryland, Donald Root and wife Nancy of Honey Brook, and Ronald Root and wife Laurie of Gap, many grandchildren , great grandchildren, nephews and nieces and eight siblings; Howard L. Stone, Jr., Raymond Stone, Barbara Cummings, Mary Cummings, Madeline Gibson, Elle Seace, Aleah Donkewicz and Susan McCarffaey.  She was preceded in death by three children; Debbie Neff, Ann Ianuzzi and William Root and three siblings; William Stone, Betty Phillips and Florence Shearer.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday. July 7, 2020 at 12:00 NOON at the Hephzibah Baptist Cemetery, 2237 Strasburg Road, Coatesville, PA   19320.  Please note, if you plan on attending the services, all social distancing must be practiced including the wearing of face masks.

In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main Street, Parkesburg, PA  19365 to help defray her funeral expenses.
