George Richard “Butch” Daniels, Jr. passed away on Saturday May30, 2015 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Ann M. Aberts of Coatesville.
Born in Chester County he was the son of the late George Richard Daniels Sr. and Mary Timozek Daniels. He is survived by 3 children, George Richard Daniels III, (Nichole) of ElKton Md., Monica Van Haren, (Dave) of Nazareth, and M. Gordon Daniels (Carolyn) of Chadds Ford. Also survived by 3 step-children, David Aberts (Debbie) of Thorndale, Nancy Castellano (Steve) of Drexel Hill, and DeeDee Barrage (Rob) of Coatesville; 7 grandchildren, Rebecca McCulloch, Matthew Richard and Drew Richard Daniels, Ellen, Steven, Michael and Matthew Daniels; 10 Step-grandchildren, Scott Barrage, Deanne Madonna (Brian), Lindsey and Karrine Aberts, Robbie and Ben Barrage; Maria Aberts, Chrissy Kyriss, Lorra Ryan (Bob) and Stephen Castellano; 9 step great grandchildren, Austin, Tyler, Luke and Francis Madonna, Hannah, Jacob and Adam Kyriss and Sarah and Samuel Ryan; 2 sisters, Dorothy Madrigale of Downingtown, and Barbara Tober (Frank) of Coatesville; Brother-in-Law G. Donald Markle of Virginia and numerous nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by a step son Scott Aberts, and a sister Janet Kennedy.
George was a 1956 graduate of S. Horace Scott High School where he received numerous awards for his outstanding athletic abilities. He was employed by Lukens Steel (Acelormittal) for 47 years.
George was a Veteran, having served 2 years in the United States Army.
He spent his early childhood years attending the Holy Ghost Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Coatesville.
He was a life member of the Thorndale and West End Fire Companies. He was also a member of the American Legion, Polish American Citizens Club, Downingtown VFW, and the Loyal Order of Moose.
In his early years, George was a coach for 9 years, coaching Caln Little League and Babe Ruth baseball.
He enjoyed horse racing, the casinos, playing cards, camping, vacations at the Maryland Shore, and dancing and singing to his oldies rock and roll.
George and Ann enjoyed traveling together and have visited all of the contiguous 50 states, including an extensive cross country trip.
Services are to be held on Friday, June 5, 2015. Friends and relatives may call on the family from 9:00am to 11:45 with a memorial service to follow at 12:15. All services will be held at the Hephzibah Baptist Church, 2237 Strasburg, Rd., Coatesville, PA 19320. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
