George E. Bell

George E. Bell, 78, of Downingtown, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at the Neighborhood Hospice Center in West Chester. He was the loving husband of Lois Richardson Bell with whom he shared 55 years of marriage.

Born in Maplewood, PA, he was the son of the late Ivan W. and Mabel Black Bell.

George was a life long area resident and a 1949 graduate of Scott High School in Coatesville. He proudly served in the US Army in Korea with the 725th Ordinance Battalion. George was employed by Philadelphia Electric for 41 years retiring in 1990. He was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church of Downingtown. George enjoyed family and friend get togethers, taking pictures and spending time on the computer. He also loved sharing his sense of humor with everyone he met.

He is survived, in addition to his wife, by three daughters; Judy, wife of Steve Houdeshel of Downingtown, Nancy, wife of Jim Sioma of York, and Julie, wife of Tim Smith of Christiana, seven grandchildren and two brothers; William Bell of West Chester and Robert Bell of Spring Hill, FL.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2010 at 3:00 pm from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg followed by interment at the Upper Octorara Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing at the funeral home from 2:00 pm to the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Neighborhood Hospice Center, 400 E. Marshall, West Chester, PA 19380.
