Frank Boninu

Frank Boninu, 86, of Coatesville passed away at Chester County Hospital on Sunday, November 06, 2022. Born in Valley Township, he was the son of the late Salvatore Boninu and Giovania (Ferrie) Boninu.

Frank formerly resided in Laguna Vista, Texas for 21 years before moving back to Pennsylvania for the past four and a half years to live with his daughter before passing.

Frank was a 1955 graduate of Scott Senior High School and went on to serve in the United States Army from 1955-1957. Followed by a 35-year career at Luken’s Steel of Coatesville, where he was a foreman in the inspection department.

Frank was extremely business minded, he owned both a garage and gas station during the course of his life, while also operating as a realtor on the side.

He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and vacationing at his cabin. He was a proud member of the NRA and West End Fire Company. He also enjoyed golfing and time spent with family.

He is survived by two children: Donna Groce and husband Dean of Coatesville and Dean Boninu and partner Kathy of Coatesville, two siblings: Leon Boninu of Coatesville and Maria Boninu also of Coatesville, six grandchildren: Melanie Esch, Michele Contreras, M. Esch, Gianna Boninu, Dane Groce, Dena Boninu, and lastly by three great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death two siblings: Salvatore “Benny” Boninu and Augustine “Gus” Boninu.

A memorial service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, November 16, 2022, from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365. Friends and family are invited to attend a visitation period taking place from 10 AM until the start of the service. Interment will directly follow at Fairview Cemetery of Coatesville.
