Frances M. Rettew

Frances M. Rettew, 92, formerly of Pomeroy, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at the Hickory House Nursing Home in Honey Brook. She was the wife of the late LaVerne R. Rettew who died in 1979. Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Tillie Kerney Montgomery.

Frances was an area resident all her life. She was employed, for 22 years, by the former Coatesville Record retiring in 1981. Later, she helped as a teachers' aid at the Octorara High School retirng at the age of 70.

Mrs Rettew was a member of the Friendship United Methodist Church where she served as a Lay Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Youth Group leader. She also enjoyed membership with the Parkesburg Senior Citizens, the Cochranville Golden Agers and serving as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army.

She is survived by three children; LaVerne D. Rettew and wife Ginny of Christiana, PA, Dennis L. Rettew and wife Ruby of Bluffton, SC and Diane M., wife of Russ DeLuca of Roswell, GA, 12 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She ws preceded in death by one grandson Michael J. DeLuca and one great grandson Benjamin J. Stefani.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 17, 2014 at 2:30pm from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, followed by interment at the Friendship Methodist Cemetery. Viewing from 1:30 to 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Friendship United Methodist Church, 123 East Friendship Church Road, Coatesville, PA 19320 or the charity of your choice.
