Emma E. Benson

Emma E. Benson, 100, of Pocopson Home, formerly of Cochranville, died on Thursday, December 22, 2011 at the Pocopson Home. She was the widow of the late Herbert W. Benson who died in 2000.

Born in Thorndale, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Rosa Talhurst Slaughter. Emma was a member of the Thorndale United Methodist Church for over 81 years. She had served there as Sunday School teacher and had been active with the Ladies Circle and kitchen committee. She was also a member of the Golden Agers of Cochranville and the Cochranville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by one daughter Linda, wife of Fred Mallalieu of Cochranville, four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one daughter Judith Neidig, three sisters and one brother.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday December 29, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. from the Thorndale United Methodist Church 3503 Lincoln Highway, Thorndale, PA 19372 with visitation at the church from 10 to 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Coatesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Thorndale United Methodist Church at the above address.
