Emanuel C. Hess

Emanuel C. Hess, 81, of James Creek, Huntingdon County, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010 at the Lancaster Regional Hospital. He was the widower of the late Ruth Stackhouse Hess, with whom he shared 49 years of marriage.

Born in Parkesburg on Sunday, September 16, 1928, he was the son of the late Martha Pine Hess and Arthur E. Hess. He was employed by the former Lukens Steel Co. as a Foreman for 35 years, until his retirement in 1983.

He served honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the V.F.W. #287 of Coatesville, the American Legion of Christiana, and the Lukens Veterans Guild; he belonged to the Brandywine-Goddard Lodge #383 F&A M of Coatesville the Rajah Temple; he was a life member of the West End Fire CO. Mr. Hess was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Parkesburg.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by three daughters, Lynn H., wife of Randall Blevins, of Christiana, Lori J., wife of William Bryson, of Christiana, Tina L., wife of Chuck Wischuck, of Parkesburg, and son Timothy C. and wife Kimberly Hess, of Parkesburg; four grandchildren, Megan Ross, wife of Michael, Christopher Hess, Emilee Blevins, Heather Blevins and adopted grandson, Kody Gilbert, all of Christiana; one great granddaughter, Madyson Ross of Christiana; siblings, Mary Lepore of Atglen, Dorothy Manley of Lancaster, and Patricia DeCarlo of West Grove. He was predeceased by his siblings, Arthur E. Hess Jr., Donna Frolick, Norman Hess and Vincent Hess, who died at birth.

The service will be held at the convenience of the Hess family.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Emanuel's memory to the American Lung Assoc., 525 Plymouth Rd., Suite 315, Plymouth Meeting, PA 19462.
