Edward W. Pawling, 87, of West Grove, PA, passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at the Penn Presbyterian Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was the husband of the late Mary C. "Connie" Richer Pawling who died in 2009. They shared 52 years of marriage together. Born in Coatesville, PA, he was the son of the late Lester Pawling and Winifred Walpole Pawling.
Ed was an area resident all his life and a 1954 graduate of the former Scott High School in Coatesville. After high school, he continued his education graduating in 1958 from the University of Sciences of Philadelphia.
He was employed at the Brandywine Hospital as Director of Materials Management, retiring in 1996 with 35 years of service at the former Brandywine Hospital and, before that, at the former Coatesville Hospital. After retirement Ed volunteered in his community for many organizations. He was a PA state Technology Expert for tax preparation and AARP tax services, and he enjoyed his hobbies of travel, gardening and woodworking. He also provided business support to Neighborhood Services in Oxford. Ed was a parishioner of the Assumption of the B.V.M. Catholic Church in West Grove, PA.
He is survived by six children: Dorothy McDonnell, wife of Robert, of West Grove, PA, Anne Marie Madden, wife of Michael, of Downingtown, Edward M. Pawling, husband of Tammy, of Worton, Maryland, Daniel J. Pawling, husband of Patricia, of Honey Brook, Christopher Pawling, husband of Jennifer, of Honey Brook, and Gerald Pawling, husband of Stacey, of Cochranville, PA, 14 grandchildren and "almost" five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by all his siblings; Jeanne Canestra, Harold Pawling, Margaret Reeves, James Pawling and Dorothy Pawling.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial visitation at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St., Parkesburg, PA on Friday, July 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by inurnment graveside services at the St. Malachi Cemetery, Cochranville, PA.
