Edward Marshall Peck of Coatesville, PA, passed from this life on October 18, 2023, at the age of 67. Affectionately called “Ed” or “Eddie”, he was the beloved husband of Cindy Lee Wertz Peck with whom he shared 46 years of marriage. Born in Coatesville, he was the son of the late Edith Cooper Peck and Ezra S. Peck, Jr.
Known for his love of family, Ed is survived (in addition to his wife) by one daughter, Katie E. Peck of Atglen, and two grandsons, Vaughn Marshall Bergmeister and Lucian Jacob Bergmeister. His daughter and grandsons (who called him “Pap”) were truly his pride and joy. He is also survived by one sister Sharon L. Wolf of Parkesburg, along with nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Danae A. Gibson, and two siblings; Donna Skiles and Ezra S. Peck, III.
Ed was an area resident most of his life and a 1974 graduate of the Coatesville Area High School. He proudly enlisted in the US Navy in 1977 and served honorably around the world with the Navy Seabees until 1988. His love of Country and of the flag continued to the day he departed this earth.
He was employed, for 32 years, by Johnson Matthey Clean Air in Devon, PA as an electrician retiring in 2018. He was a member of the Romansville United Methodist Church, the United Steel Workers Union UFW 1165-D1, and the Parkesburg VFW Post #4480.
A self-taught musician, Ed’s lifelong love of music began early. At 14, he saved money from his summer job to purchase his first instrument -a twelve string guitar- which remained his favorite of the many guitars he went on to collect throughout his lifetime. Over the decades, Ed collaborated with area musicians across diverse genres including folk, bluegrass, reggae, and rock. He was a regular at the Old Fiddlers Picnic.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Romansville Methodist Cemetery.
