Edward J. Banach

December 2, 1925 — April 3, 2017

Edward J. Banach, 91, of Parkesburg, passed away on Monday, April 3, 2017 at the Wallingford Nursing Home in Wallingford, PA. Married to Anne Lesoken Banach, who died in 2004 and whom he always declared “the prettiest woman in town”, they shared 54 years of marriage.  Born in Parkesburg, he was the son of the late Michael S. and Johanna Marcelous Banach.

Ed lived most of his life in Parkesburg, residing in the house in which he was born. He loved the town’s residents, counting many as friends. Ed graduated from the former Parkesburg High School in 1943. In November of the same year he enlisted in the US Navy and served during WWII in the Pacific Theater of operations.

After the war, Ed delivered milk for Highland Dairies, often enlisting the help of his own children, as well as his friends’ children. Many a child learned valuable business and life lessons under his watchful eye. Later in life, he was employed by the former Quad Graphics Printing Co. of Atglen.

Ed worshipped at Our Lady of Consolation Church of Parkesburg and served as a former Vice President of the Polish American Club of Coatesville.

More than anything, Ed adored his family.  Surviving him are his four children: ; Paula A., wife of Philip Bogdan of Springfield, VA; Denise M., wife of James Mariano of East Fallowfield:  Michael A. Banach of Paradise; Joanne T., wife of Anthony Trolio of Media along with  seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Two siblings preceded him in death: Theresa Banach and Anthony Banach, killed in WWII while also serving in the US Navy in the Pacific.

Everyone knew of Ed’s love of animals, and he quickly became dubbed the “St. Francis of Parkesburg.” Please consider making a donation in his name to Providence Animal Center at 555 Sandy Bank Road, Media, PA, 19063.

Everyone who met Ed will remember the twinkle in his eye, his never ending sense of humor, and his zest for living.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 8, 2017,  at 11:00 am at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 603 W 2nd Ave., Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at the Parkesburg Catholic Cemetery. Family and friends are also invited to attend the viewing Saturday morning from 9:30 am to 10:45am at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA.
