Edna M. Thompson

Edna M. Thompson, 78, of Shirleysburg, PA, formerly of Downingtown, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at the Woodland Retirement Community in Orbisonia, PA. She was the widow of the late Edward I. Thompson, Sr. who died in 2006. Born in Millersville, she was the daughter of the late Elmer H. and Mary Herr Esworthy.

Edna loved babysitting and cooking. She was a faithful member of the Kings Way Independent Church where she served by helping with Jr. Church and cooking in the kitchen. She also volunteered at City Gate Mission in Coatesville helping prepare meals.

She is survived by her two children, Louise Kershaw wife of Ken of Shirleysburg and Edward I. Thompson Jr., husband of Cindy of Christiana; three grandchildren, Hollie Knovich, Renee Kershaw and Ben Thompson; one great grandson Alekzander Knovich, and three siblings; John Esworthy of Christiana, Frank Esworthy of Harrisburg and Mary Jane Christman of S.C.

She was preceded in death by a brother Paul Esworthy.

Memorial services will be held on Saturday, June 5, 2010 at 11 AM from the Kings Way Independent Church, 55 Morris Lane, Sadsburyville, PA 19369. Family and friends are also invited to attend the visitation at the church from 10 AM until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in her memory to the Kings Way Independent Church at the above address.
