Edmund C. Barnes, 87, of Brandamore, passed away on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Paoli Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of the late Vera Dunlap Barnes who died in 2011. Born in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Edmund C. and Edna Jenkins Barnes.
Ed was an area resident all of his life and 1945 graduate of the former Scott High School. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He was employed by PECO, for 45 years as a lineman and detailer.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in Coatesville and the West Caln Sportsman Club where he received the Annual Mary Nagy Award for his dedication to preserving the environment. He also enjoyed hunting, gardening, bowling, golf, baseball and spending time with his family.
He is survived, by three children; James E. Barnes and wife Caren of Bradford, PA, Patricia B., wife of Dennis Hewston of Swan Lake, NY and Timothy B. Barnes and wife Cheryl of Elverson and four grandchildren; Steven, Jessica, Cathleen and Adam. He was preceded in death by two siblings; Bertha Mock and David Barnes.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 29, 2014 at 11am from the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA followed by interment at Forks of the Brandywine Cemetery, Glenmoore. Viewing and visitation from 10 to 11am.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association 5455 N. High Street, Columbus, OH 43214 or a charity of your choice.
