Edith W. Russell

January 31, 1918 — March 13, 2019

Edith W. Russell, 101, passed away on March 13, 2019 at Garden Spot Village.  She was the widow of the late Walter A. Russell who passed away in 1997.  Born in Coatesville, PA she was the daughter of the late Grace E. Clingaman and Samuel P. Waddell.

She was a graduate of Coatesville High School and worked as an executive secretary at the former Lukens Steel.

Edith was constantly making new friends.  She enjoyed golf, reading, travelling, and spending time at her home in Florida that she kept until the age of 90.  Edith enjoyed boating in North East, Maryland, and camping at Oak Ridge in Ocean City, N.J.  Edith loved playing Bridge and Pinochle; and she was very fond of fashion.

She is survived by her daughters, Marjorie A. (Raymond "Butch") Devlin and Barbara J. (Harriss "Hab") Butler; six grandchildren, Beth Ann (Dave) Maxwell, Rebecca (Ron Zigler) Butler, Lisa Devlin, Kimberly (Michael) Hieber, Skip (Jill) Butler, and Rusty (Tina) Butler; and seven great grandchildren.  She was predeceased by her three siblings.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at 11 AM at The Chapel at Garden Spot Village, 433 S Kinzer Ave, New Holland, PA 17557, with a visitation from 10 AM until the time of the service.  The interment will be held at the Glen Run Cemetery in Atglen.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Edith's memory to Octorara Food Cupboard, 714 Main St., Parkesburg, PA 19365.
