Earl B. Scott

November 9, 1935 — August 12, 2020

Earl Barton Scott, 84, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, August 12, 2020.  Formerly of the Downingtown/Coatesville Area, he passed away at Arbour Square Senior Living in West Chester.  He was the beloved husband of Joann Moretz Scott with whom he shared 61 years of marriage.  The son of the late Jackson Kendig Scott and Esther Ayers Scott, he was born on November 9, 1935 in Pomeroy, PA

He demonstrated the Fruit of the Spirit with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.  He always made his family a priority and cherished them.  In addition to his wife, Joann, he is survived by 3 children; Wendy Scott Webster, wife of Mark Webster (Glenmoore, PA); Cheryl Scott Brown, wife of Michael Brown (Downingtown, PA); and Steven E. Scott (Spring City, PA).  Earl also has 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter; Zachary S. and Katy Brown; David M. and Katie Webster; Jonathan S. Webster; and Danielle J. Brown as well as 1 great grandson, Leroy Brown.  He also has 2 sisters, Janet Clavier (Walter) and Doris Anderson (George) both of Coatesville.  He was preceded in death by 1 sister, Emma Tracey (Edward) and 1 brother, Jackson Scott, Jr (Anita). He also loved his nieces and nephews and enjoyed teasing them.

Earl graduated in 1953 from Horace Scott High School in Coatesville.  After high school he was employed by Bell Telephone then AT&T until his retirement in 1991.  Earl also served in the U.S. Army at El Paso, TX from 1958 - 1960.  After retirement from the telephone company, he was self employed at Scott’s Telephone Wiring.

Earl was a member of Coatesville Bible Fellowship where he had served as a deacon and a Sunday School Class treasurer.  He could often be found driving the bus for youth group activities, in the kitchen running the dishwasher or making Chicken Corn Soup for youth group activities.  He also provided meals for the sick or cakes for potlucks.  He enjoyed cooking and baking for others, along with gardening and fixing things.

Funeral Services will be held at Coatesville Bible Fellowship, 6 N Fourth Avenue, Coatesville, PA at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 18, 2020.  Family and Friends are invited to the viewing prior to the funeral service from 9:30 - 11:00 AM.  Interment will immediately follow the service at Upper Octorara Church Cemetery in Parkesburg, PA.  For everyone’s protection, please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
