Dorothy Cabott

January 5, 1936 — May 5, 2020

Dorothy Cabott, 84, formerly of Atglen, PA, passed away unexpectedly in her hometown of Port Charlotte, Florida.  She was the daughter of the late Leroy and Frances "Dolly" Werner.

She had been suffering from a chronic immune disease that would have left her with treatments for the rest of her life. She did not suffer as she passed and was in good spirits up until her heart gave out.  In typical "Dorothy" fashion, the Lord took her on a day marked for celebrations (Cinco De Mayo) and not sadness.

She was a "somewhere in the middle" child with six sisters and two brothers, born to a large Polish-Catholic family, and honestly, no one could ever remember the oldest to youngest in order.

In 2004 she moved to Florida to be near her two children, David Cabott and Denise Cabott Dull and her sole grandchild, Catherine Alexandra whom she adored and enjoyed watching her dance.
She worked until 2018 at Section 23 Homeowners Association in Deep Creek and was well-loved there.

Dorothy didn't want to be any trouble, didn't want you to bother, and didn't want you to fuss.  She simply wanted you to be happy to enjoy family, friendships, and of course SPORTS.

This past Sunday was the first Mother's Day her children had to experience and they share in grieving alongside many other children who would be remembering or mourning the loss of their Mothers on this special day.

In addition to her children and granddaughter, she is survived by her sisters, Elaine Chapman of Atglen, Alice Findley of Parkesburg, PA, Mary Lou Hall of Brownsville, TX, Frances Wickens of Horseheads, NY, and Susan Shoemaker of Kirkwood, PA.

She was predeceased by her sister Betty Amico, her brothers John Werner, and Leroy "Buzz" Werner Jr.

While Florida was her current home, she always missed the hills and valleys of Pennsylvania, therefore, a celebration of life will be scheduled "back home" in PA sometime in the fall. In lieu of flowers, her family asks that you say a prayer for her, remember her fondly, and hold those who are dear to you.  She was and forever will be cherished and deeply missed.
