Doris Marie Rissel

Doris Marie Work Rissel, 92, of Christiana, PA, passed away on Sunday, December 12, 2021, in Lancaster.  Doris was born on July 4, 1929 in Coatesville, the daughter of the late Clarence W. and Marie Work.

She was the widow of the late Norman William Rissel, who passed in 1995.

As a teenager, she worked as a waitress at the former Downingtown Diner and later Ingleside Diner.  Most presently, she was a secretary for the Department of Agriculture.

She enjoyed singing with the choir at the Wagontown Chapel.  She also was a freelance writer for area newspapers.

She is survived by her daughters, Carol, wife of Patrick W.  Moore of Coudersport, and Jennifer Kurtz of Christiana; her grandchildren, Shawn K. McDowell and his companion, Jennifer Glatfelter of Coudersport, Charles Brown III of Christiana, and Kent C. Rissel of Wernersville, PA; her great-grandchildren, Matthew C. Brown of Buck, PA, and Lauren Brown of Quarryville. Doris is survived also by a sister, Mary Ella, wife of Rodney Linderman of Pottstown.  She was preceded in death by a sister, Helen McCombs.

Friends and family are invited to a prayer vigil to be held at 11 Lancaster Avenue, Christiana, PA 17509 in Bart Township on Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family.
