Doris M. Baker, 85, of Downingtown, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at her home, surrounded by her beloved family. She was the wife of Charles L. "Derry" Baker, with whom she shared 65 years of marriage.


Born in Coatesville, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha McCarraher Bunting. An area resident her entire life, Doris was a 1941 graduate of the Coatesville High School. She had previously been employed at Walnut Grove Candy and most recently was employed at the Strawbridge and Clothier of Exton, where she had worked for 12 years. Doris was a member of the Lutheran Church of Good Shepherd of Coatesville.

She liked spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed vacationing with her family in both Rehoboth Beach, DE and Ocean City, MD.


Doris is survived, in addition to her husband, by her three daughters, Charlotte Mascuilli, wife of Timothy, of Downingtown, Donna Gulli, wife of Vincent, of Coatesville, Terry Simpson, wife of Edward, of Coatesville; five grandchildren, Dana Trimbur, wife of Ed, Melissa and Michael Gulli, Kylene and Kyle Simpson; four great grandchildren, Ashley and Bobby Stewart, Danielle and Sydney Trimbur.

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Monica Mascuilli Stewart.

The Funeral will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 11 AM at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 107 S. 17th Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320, followed by interment in the Upper Octorara Cemetery of Parkesburg. Family and friends are invited to attend the visitation, which will be held at the Church from 10 AM until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Neighborhood Hospice, 400 E. Marshall St., West Chester, PA 19380 or to the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd at the above address.
