Doris A. Durnin

Doris A. Durnin, 101, of Parkesburg, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the Reading Hospital in Reading, PA. She was the wife of the late James Chester Durnin who died in 1978. Born in Shermans Dale, PA, she was the daughter of the late Dewey McAllister and Mary Yohn McAllister.

Doris was an area resident most of her life. She was employed as a practical nurse. She enjoyed bird watching and crocheting, made several afghans and pillows, and loved all things purple. She loved going to the beach with family and looked forward to annual trips. She loved the Lord and attended Freedom Life Church in Christiana until age 91 and then watched TV broadcasts of SBN, TBN and Daystar.

She is survived by one daughter; Debra S. Neal and husband Gerald of Parkesburg and one grandson Wesley James Neal and wife Jonna of Parkesburg. She was preceded in death by one son Larry E. Durnin and four siblings; Max McAllister, Charlotte Frey, Joe McAllister and Dale McAllister.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at 11:00 AM  at the Upper Octorara Presbyterian Church, 1121 Octorara Trail, Parkesburg, PA. Viewing and visitation at the church from 10:00 AM to the time of the service. Interment will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
