Donald L. Mcpherson

Donald L. McPherson, 71, of Quarryville, died on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at the Jennersville Regional Hospital after battling ALS. He was the beloved husband of Judy Soulliard McPherson with whom he shared 49 years of marriage. Born in Avondale, he was the son of the late Horace and Katherine Connor McPherson.

Donald was an area resident all his life and graduate of the Oxford High School. He was employed, for over 31 years, by General Motors in Wilmington, DE. He also was employed as Chief of Police in Elk Twp. in the 1960's and early 1970's and the Solanco School District as a crossing guard during his early retirement.
Don was a member of the Wesley Methodist Church, lifetime member of the Oxford Fire Company, founder of the Ox-Grove Youth Bowling League, member of the Eagles Club and he served as a fire policeman with the Quarryville, Oxford and Bart Fire Companies.
He is survived, in addition to his wife, by two children; Donald McPherson and wife Rebecca of Port Deposit, MD and Alison McPherson of Quarryville, two grandsons Craig and Steven, one great granddaughter Lily, three siblings; John McPherson and wife Norma of Seaford, DE, Irene, wife of Mitchell Delp of Oxford and Rose Comer of Rising Sun, MD, brother-in-law Chuck Soulliard and his beloved dog Daisy.
Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Ware Presbyterian Village, 7 East Locust Street Oxford, PA 19363.
