Donald John Byrd

Donald John Byrd, 70, of Coatesville, PA formerly of Mulberry Grove, IL, passed away at his home on Monday, September 26, 2022, after a long illness. Born in Anaco, Venezuela, South America, he was the son of the late Samuel Luther Byrd and Viola Mary Wilcoxson Byrd.

Donald proudly served in the US Army for 24 years retiring in 1994 as a 1st Class Sergeant. Throughout his military career he was stationed in Germany with a US Armored Calvary Unit.

He is survived by three sisters: Juanda Kay Benson of Palo Alto, CA, Patty Ruth Bonuccelli and husband Edward of Fort Bragg, CA and Linda C. Rice and husband Scott of Parkesburg, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother-in-law Robert Benson.

Memorial services and military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2022, at 2:00 PM at the Wilde Funeral Home, 434 Main St. Parkesburg, PA with visitation from 1:00 PM to the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his memory to the Harrison Senior Living, 300 Strode Ave., Coatesville, PA 19320 where Donald was treated with wonderful care. Donations may also be made to Holisticare Hospice, 985 Old Eagle School Rd., Suite 504, Wayne, PA 19087 who offered Don dignity, comfort, and respect in his final days.
